Uterine fibroids are extremely common. Yet not all women realize that they have them. A woman is most likely to discover that she has uterine fibroids when she experiences pain, even acute pain, in her lower belly or pelvis. Additionally, sexual intercourse may also be painful, depending on where the fibroids are located in the uterus.
Fibroid pain may appear in several different ways:
• Pelvic pain or pressure
• Pain in the back of the legs
• Lower back pain
• Painful sexual intercourse
There are other uterine fibroid symptoms, but the most commonly reported is some form of pain.
Treatment for fibroid pain has traditionally involved a hysterectomy, but other treatment options are available, including the non-invasive MR-Guided Focused Ultrasound treatment.
